Chiraw is not a name soon to forget. While the meaning of the two combined words (Chi and Raw) stand for vital and raw energy, one knows what to expect from the band.
Most people are stunned when they hear that the band wasn’t formed until January 2006! Amazingly enough, they have already shown the crowd what they are made of: heavy yet energised brutal riffs, industrial atmospheric samples mixed with both clean melodic vocals and brutal screams.
Just like many bands that are formed these days, they have also been inspired by many different artists. When all these styles are combined, Chiraw is the final product. They have been working extremely hard in the past two years, letting the scene know that this is a band that should be taken seriously. Their first EP Resurrection was recorded later in 2006 with 5 killer tracks on it. Now that they are finally armed with a full repertoire which is still growing as we speak, they are playing every club, venue and festival that crosses their path.
All their live experience paid off when they entered the Aardschok / Jägermeister Metal Bash Competition 2006. The jury was quite impressed with their modern metal and their live performance, leaving Chiraw with first prize.
Chiraw hooked up with a new management and started writing their debut album early 2007, doing a string of dates as well.
Their brand new effort 'DARK FREQUENCIES' is a monstrous metal assault stuffed with groove, melody and aggression. Recorded by Gerwin Bruins and Mixed by Jochem Jacobs (TEXTURES) the disc sounds as brutal as it can get! The album is scheduled to be released through Rusty Cage Records at October 15th 2008.
