Norwegian metalcore unit K[nine] is offering to us here, their new six-piece EP containing more than 22 minutes of true and straight-up
metalcore. Unlike many of the other metalcore releases coming out these years, this EP entitled Dead World’s Poetry sounds surprisingly refreshing and partly innovative. This disc is a follow-up to the highly acclaimed and sold-out debut Unleash the Power.
The music on this six tracker seems influenced by the acts of Korn, Shadows Fall, Soilwork, Chimaira and even Machine Head and Pantera. It
is extreme metal with Scandinavian death and thrash infl uences fi tting perfectly together into the whole concept of the band. Guitar riffs are mainly nu-metal which serve as a base for each and every song. Vocals are mainly growling, but also with some clean and clear parts. It is actually fits well together, being much diverse.
Best tracks in my opinion are “Pitch Black Eyes” with its dominant clear vocals and very memorable and catchy lyrical content. The other great song is the closing one called “Path of Damnation” with intense and heavy riffi ng and shouting like from hell. It truly serves as a proof what this five-piece from Norway is capable of. I can only highly encourage any of you to check this release/band out and find out why they been on the same stage as Motorhead, Helloween, Pain etc.
