Rusty Cage Records brought us Forcefeed’s full lenght simply titled forcefeed. According to the band’s myspace page Forcefeed is the follow-up to ‘when grey becomes’ (2004) and ‘stainless’ (2005). Aarschok magazine however state that Forcefeed is their debut album. Since I haven’t heard of Forcefeed before I can’t give you the answer. Let’s follow the band on this one and assume it’s their 3rd full length.
Earlier this year I said that reviewing can be easy and hard. This review is a hard one. To be honest this kind of music, a grooving combination of nu-metal and nowadays metal, isn’t really my cup of tea. I’m not into this scene, don’t have a lot of albums like this one and therefore not many material to compare ‘em with. When in doubt, just stick to the facts => here we go.
Forcefeed is a 10 song, 45 minute long album filled with downtuned, heavy riffs. The vocals are mostly heavy, inbetween a light grunt and a shout. The many-voiced clean vocals can be heard in various songs and seem to be a trademark in nu-metal. The songs are never dull but never breathtaking either. The artwork is in black and white, low profile and leaning towards amateurism. Production and mix are good, just what a nowadays metal band needs. Forcefeed is a Dutch band but don’t sound like one and that’s a compliment. Fans who dig Meshuggah, Slipknot and American Head Charge should give this one a try.
They’re good in what they do but their style doesn’t appeal to me. Band and/or scene adepts can add 10 points to my
Rating: 75 /100
