Cypher

Cypher was founded in spring 2002 by T (vocals, guitars) and Sander (guitars). Their first call to arms was their 2003 “Forward Devolution” promo, establishing a name in the local underground scene with their brutal and relentless mix of death/thrash. After several personnel changes a steady line-up was formed in 2005.

Cypher

Announced as the most promising act, their memorable performance on one of the biggest open air festivals in the Hague in 2006 resulted in the definitive establishment of their name. Numerous reviews in the media were very positive, many predicting a record deal.

In 2006 the band recorded their debut album “Darkday Carnival”, with the band’s ultimate goal being a record deal to bring their brutal music to the masses... The album was recorded at the Excess Studios and The Blood Shed. Jochem Jacobs (Textures) handled the production, mixing and mastering at his Split Second Sound Studio. Several Record Companies showed serious interest and Cypher signed a two-record deal with Dutch label “Rusty Cage Records”.

Summer 2007 Jerry “Pioko” Orie decided to part ways with the band. He will be returning to his home country Surinam, South-America to pursue business opportunities and promote metal music. He served the Cypher-clan for three years.

Joost van der Graaf, one of the best metal bass players in Holland enforced the Cypher team. The band is confident that he will have everything it takes to handle the bassduties. Joost is probably best known for being the vocalist and bassplayer of Creepmime, one of Dutch leading metal-bands in the mid 90's.

Darkday Carnival: Pervaded with sickness, perverted with corruption and depraved by immorality, a true sonic blow to the soul... You've all heard bands like In Flames, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Testament, but wait 'til you hear this album!
