![]() Forcefeed is a Dutch band formed in 2002. After an EP, two full-lengths and even an American tour the band is ready for a self-titled third album, their first with Rusty Cage Records. Described as “loud, proud and guaranteed to rock the crowd”, the band serves us with ten tracks of crushing Metalcore. And although the heaviness of the music is a predominant factor in the Forcefeed sound, they also incorporate plenty of melodic choruses. Mentioning Slipknot, Mudvayne, Korn, Machine Head, Pantera, American Head Charge as their main influences, I can’t help but be reminded of newer Sepultura as well, especially when it comes to the groovy guitar sound. The hardcore-styled vocals fits well with the aggressive nature of the music, and for the melodic sections clean vocal arrangements have been added. I know this is a standardized concept nowadays, but I tend to consider it more of a break of flow rather than a welcome addition. At least they don’t overuse it, as most of the times they’ve used it on the album it sounds a bit too corny. It’s the groovy mid-tempo crushing music that provides the main part of the album, which is probably the greatest quality of the band. The material is not shocking, and I guess I must again be missing the whole hype, but at least ‘Forcefeed’ serves it purpose for those looking for some good old grooving music. www.quintessence.sh |
